First: today we have two winners: Christina Brunetti and Estela S.! Christina and Estela each win a copy off The Year My Son and I Were Born by Kathryn Lynard Soper. Congratulations, ladies! Please send your shipping information (including phone number, please) to katrina (at) stonoff (dot) com, and I’ll get your books in the mail!
For next week, once again you can choose Any Book I’ve Mentioned. It can be a book I’ve already given away (such as The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet), one I’ve talked about on the blog (such as Grave Goods), a book on any of my four giveaway shelves, or something I’ve reviewed here or here.
To enter, just comment below with the title you want and come back Monday to see if I’ve drawn your name from one of my hats. Contest open to anyone on the planet who has access to reliable mail service, even if we’re related or you won today.
Now, the hat (#41):
This hat would be fairly ordinary — straw, ribbon, netting, ho-hum – but it’s a Sonni hat, and the shape is anything BUT ordinary.
The brim is tipped up on the side and dips down in front for a sense of mystery. In back, the brim is tacked to the crown and highlighted by a grosgrain bow to match the band.
See what I mean about blocking? Compared to some hand-blocked hats, this one’s a bit extreme (irregularities can be very subtle), but they make all the difference.

I’ll try again for Elizabeth Berg, We Are All Welcome Here This is a test to see whether I can use html tags here. I sure hope so.
And Katrina, that is One Fine Hat!

I would love to be entered for Divisadero by Michael Ordaatje. The story line is eeriely not unlike something I had, had to me growing up. Losing someone I cared for after he was threatened if he came around me again. The whole premise of a story within a story, always fascinates me.
