Mars Under Hypnosis

Last night, Mars’s company gave a party to celebrate some big accomplishments from the last couple of years, and the entertainment was a Hypnotist’s Show by Ron Stubbs, licensed hypnotherapist and comedian extraordinare.

It was hilarious! I’ve seen these before, and they’re always funny, but this time my husband volunteered. I didn’t think he’d go under — he never allows himself to lose control. I’ve heard that hypnosis lowers inhibitions but doesn’t make you do something you’d never do, so I figured even if Mars did actually go under, he just wouldn’t do much of what Ron asked because he is a very reserved person.

I was wrong. But not completely.

Stupidly, I didn’t think to bring my camcorder, but my little pocketbook digital camera takes video too (albeit not great quality). Being the world’s greatest sport, Mars has given me permission to post it, and I’m trying to figure out how to do it. But in the meantime, here’s one still picture.

Just to set it up: Ron told his hapless victims it was really, really cold (below freezing), and that the person next to them looked like a nice warm blanket. Then he put them back to sleep like that. Keep in mind: my husband is an extremely private, polite, and proper man. And he’s on a stage in front of 200+ people, most of whom are co-workers. And that woman in the picture? Not me.

 

After the show, a very tall, distinguished-looking man walked up to him and said, “What were you doing with your hand on my daughter’s thigh?”
