Monday Book Giveaway (December 1, 2008)

By katrinastonoff

Today’s winner is … rat-a-tat-tat … Kimmy Lane! Congratulations! Kimmy wins a copy of M. J. Rose’s book The Memorist. Kimmy, please send your shipping information to katrina (at) stonoff (dot) com, and I’ll get your book in the mail.

As promised, this week, you can win any book! Your choice. Any book you want (well, any book readily available for $25 or less, not counting shipping). Tell me what book is calling your name.

To enter, comment below with the book title, and come back next Monday to see if I’ve pulled your name from one of my hats. Deadline noonish Sunday. Contest open to anyone on the planet who has access to reliable mail service.

Now, the hat from which I pulled Kimmy Lane’s number:
hat30

This one’s by Louise Green, whose popularity went to Mars after one of her hats was featured on Desperate Housewives. The hat is felt with a velvet hatband. And yes, the velvet really is multi-colored. On my computer, the colors are true.

This was my first cloche (a tight-fitting, bell-shaped hat popular in the Roaring Twenties). I have very thick hair, so when it was long, I couldn’t ever find a cloche that fit. But it’s short now, and I adore this hat. In this picture, I don’t have it on right though. It’s supposed to be further forward, so your eyes barely peek out. I put it on without a mirror. Later I pulled it down where it’s supposed to be, but none of those pictures worked.

I wore this hat to the Missy Higgins concert. It was a mistake — TOO hot! But it looked darling.

that’s my problem with wearing hats: it gets too hot. Some are really cute, though. I like this one a lot, but I think last week’s hat still has it beat for first place.

there’s this new TV series called Legend of the Seeker, which i really enjoy. it’s based off of Terry Goodkind’s book series The Sword of Truth. I’d love to win the first three books (the box set like on amazon), but if that’s too much, then the first book by itself would be neat. Please enter me into the drawing. :)
