Monday Giveaway! (April 7, 2008)
Two new winners! Congratulations Amateur de Livre and Karin! Both win their choice of books from my Giveaway Shelf. Karin chose Marley & Me. Amateur has not yet chosen. Winners, please send your shipping information (and Amateur, your choice from the shelf) to katrina (at) stonoff (dot) com, and I’ll get your books in the mail!
For this week, you may choose one of two books.
- Triangle by Katharine Weber, a fascinating novel based on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that killed 146 people, mostly women and girls, in 1911; or
- Roadmap to Holland by Jennifer Graf Groneberg, a memoir of a mother adjusting to the birth of premature twins, one of whom has Down Syndrome.
To win your choice of these two books, comment below by noon Sunday (Pacific Time), and I’ll choose two winners. Contest is open to anyone on the planet, even if you’re related to me or just won (if you just won, however, or have won numerous times, I reserve the right to choose a third winner as well and send your book without fanfare).
It’s kind of ironic that Karin won this week because her comment said, “Toss my name into the hat please,” and that’s exactly what I did.
I stumbled onto another book giveaway, Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin’?, where the blogger not only literally picked the winner from a hat, she posted a picture of the hat! I adore hats, and hers was a darling, vintage black felt with a grosgrain ribbon. How fun is that?!
SO … in order to actually allow some of my own adorable but rarely worn hats to see the light, I have stolen her idea Karin, this is the hat into which I threw your name and from which my Girly Girl drew it.
It’s a Philip Treacy, made from rabbit fur felt. Probably haute couture and terribly expensive retail, but of course I didn’t buy it retail!
Big thanks to the following bloggers for promoting the Monday Book Giveaway! If you found the giveaway via a different blog, please let me know, so I can thank them for the link.

Please drop me in the hat for Triangle by Katharine Weber. Sounds very interesting.

Oooh, I would LOVE Triangle. I know I have twin boys, but I was all into the Triangle Fire as a teenager, wrote a paper on it and its effects on worker’s rights, and would be all over reading a fictionalized account of it. How fun! Well, if you call a bunch of folks dying in a fire fun. And I don’t.
Okay, gonna stop digging now.
=)
