Today’s winner (with help from a random number generator) is Audra! Audra wins her choice of books I’ve mentioned: Writer’s Guide to Character Traits by Linda N. Edelstein. Congratulations! Audra, send your mailing address to katrina (at) stonoff (dot) com, and I’ll pop your book in the mail for you.
For this week, I offer two books of historical fiction that blew my mind: Nectar From a Stone by Jane Guill and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I’m not willing to give up my copies (and I want to support my favorite authors anyway), so these are new books.
Leave a comment below to enter, and I’ll choose a name next Monday. Good luck!
Edited to change the link on Nectar from a Stone, so it no longer points to spoiler book reviews! Thanks, Shama-lama Mama!

I almost signed up for this thing earlier but didn’t want to be number one as it never gets picked. Watch, just cuz I said that, it will be number one. sigh…
I would love to get Snow Flower. I love nearly ANY historical fiction as long as its pretty accurate.
HEY!!! DON’T READ THE AMAZON REVIEWS FOR NECTAR FROM A STONE!!! IT TOTALLY GIVES AWAY THE ENDING!!!

Shama-Lama Mama: Thank you! I hate (HATE) spoilers, so I have linked to Powell’s Books instead.
Oh, and I make a real effort not to give a specific number a better chance or a worse chance at winning. I list all the names on a separate piece of paper (as much at random as a human can do), and then I use a random number generator to choose a number. So 1 is as likely to be picked as 8 or 16.
I used to write the names on strips and my 6-year-old draw one, but it got to be too many strips.
Anyway, it really is as fair as I know how to make it.

I absolutely LOVED “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan”. I would love to have a copy of this book since I borrowed it from my local library. Lisa’s is half-Chinese for those of you who do not know that. She’s got a lot of history behind her- try her auto-biographical book about her whole family. They were big in Chinatown in San Francisco. I want to get her latest title that I saw in Borders last week. This is something I would love to have- either one. Thanks!
