Last week, I got to see Keri Noble (with Jeff Arundel on guitar and vocals) in concert twice–always a red-letter week when she comes to town! She’s amazing! She was playing in small venues, trying out some new music, and one of the things I love most about her is that she doesn’t hold back. Ever. Regardless how many (or how few) people are in the audience, she blasts out everything she’s got: volume, heart, message, soul. You can hear her music on My Space.
Thursday night, we were at the Twin Paradox coffeehouse (the Chai Fission is to die for!), and we ran into a guy we’d met before: Joe. He was at the original concert we attended at the Crystal Ballroom in 2003, and we’ve seen him at almost every concert since. Well, it turned out Joe was a fan even before we were; he’d caught her quite by accident some years before that and has been quietly in her fandom all this time.
When we introduced ourselves, my niece said, “I’m Summer.” It was a little loud, and he had trouble hearing her, so she added, “Like the season.” Then my sister said, “I’m Spark. You know, like an ember?” I hadn’t heard what they’d said, but I said what I always say, “I’m Katrina, like the hurricane.”
Joe just laughed. “You can’t make this stuff up.”
We all met again the next night at Music Millennium and went out for dinner afterward at a pub Joe knew of (killer salmon pate!). As we were talking, my niece mentioned her friend, Autumn.
Joe said, “Wait a minute! Summer has a friend named Autumn?!” We assured him it was true, and then I added, “And I have a friend named Kamille!”
Now we just have to find Spark a friend named Ember, and we’ll have party conversation forever.
We had a great time, and I’m posting pics behind the cut.
The woman on the far left is Anji, a friend of Spark’s and Summer’s (and now a rabid Keri fan too — it’s contagious). We tried to get Joe into the picture, but he was too smart to document being seen with us in public. There’s another photo below from Thursday night, but if you go to church with me and/or think I am proper and modest … don’t scroll down!
Yes, that’s exactly what it looks like: my niece is copping a feel (and yes, she squeezed). We can’t take her anywhere! Jeff, as you can see, is actually helping her reach! I printed this photo out and brought it Friday to show Keri, and this was her response:
Imagine how we’d act if we were drinking!

OK, I SO want to sit next to you in church now. You are my kind of gal-but we already knew that, didn’t we?

ROFL! You, uh, do know you’d be sitting on the organ bench, right? We’d be cutting up in full view of everyone!
And, oh yeah. We knew that. I can’t wait to meet you.

SO jealous! SO SO SO jealous!
It sounds like such a good time, I wish I was there! And I think I recognise that red top your were wearing as well.
And doesn’t Keri look utterly gorgeous!

Sorry! I wish you’d been there too. We had SUCH a great time, and you’d have been a super addition to the mix.
And yes, about the red top. Though I didn’t realize just how much cleavage it showed, in the store!
Keri always looks stunning. If I didn’t love her so much, I’d hate her for it.
